Average commissions on the bitcoin network dropped to pre-halving levels

Almost three weeks after the halving, the commissions in the Bitcoin network dropped to the values recorded just before the event.
According to Bitinfocharts, on May 27, the average commission rate fell to US$2.40, although seven days earlier it exceeded US$6.6.
Over the last two days, this figure rose again and as of May 29 was US$3.17. This is almost the same level as was recorded on May 8, three days before halving.
The decline in the average commission size occurs against the backdrop of the continuing devastation of the bitcoin mempool. At the time of writing the size of unconfirmed transactions fell to 2.2 Mb, and their total number fell below 4.5 thousand.
