Japanese stocks go down, volatility still low
Japanese stocks saw losses on May 13. The steepest drops were seen in Real Estate, Transport and Paper&Pulp sectors.
The pharmaceutical company Shionogi & Co demonstrated the best performance of the trading day, gaining 10.60% - which equals 584 points - and reaching 6091. NEC Corp. gained 6.49% - which equals 285 points - and ended up at 4675.
Mitsui Engineering had the worst performance of the finished session, losing 12.76% - which equals 79 points - and ending up at 540. Pacific Metals lost 6.52% - which equals 105 points - and standing at 1506 by the end of the day.
There were 1884 losing stocks this day. 1662 stocks saw gains. 195 remained mostly flat. The important Nikkei Volatility index stayed at 28.01 - the lowest in a month.
Crude oil June contract lost 1.71% and was at US$25.34 per barrel. Brent July contract lost 2.90% and stood at US$29.11 per barrel.
