Australian stocks finish the session with gains

Metals and Materials push the market up.
Australian stocks closed higher on May 13. The charge has been led primarily by metals and mining companies.

When the closing time came in Sydney, the ASX 200 index gained 0.35%. 
The lithium mining company Pilbara Minerals demonstrated the best performance of the day, gaining 11.90% - which equals 0.025 points - and ending up at 0.235 by the end of trading. Avita Medical earned 8.70% - which equals 0.040 points - and stood at 0.500.
Alumina Ltd was the worst performing stock of the day, losing 6.95% and ending up at 1.405 by the end of the trading session. Orocobre Ltd lost 5.94% and finished the day at 1.90.
There were 703 stocks on the losing side. 484 Australian stocks saw gains. 341 remained mostly flat. 
The ASX 200 VIX index, which tracks the volatility of the national stock market, increased by 0.17%, reaching 26.254.
Gold Futures June contract gained 0.02% and ended up at A$1707.20 per ounce. AUD/USD went up by 0.12% and reached 0.6477. AUD/JPY also saw growth, gaining 0.12% and ending up at 69.39.
